Sally Holt

Dip. Psyth DHP

Hello, I'm Sally.

I am a very experienced psychotherapist and have held various posts within the mental health profession. I have worked extensively with adult psychological trauma and I have also spent many years delivering palliative care to patients with complex difficulties. I use various techniques to target specific problems and I specialise in psychoanalysis. I have a keen interest in evolutionary psychology and I often use aspects of this in my therapy sessions.

Dip. Mentalhealth

Dip. Couns. Anx

Hi, I'm Steve.

I joined the practice as a counsellor six years ago after working for many years in local government. Following two previous breakdowns, I decided to train as a counsellor and use my first hand experiences to assist others. I use various techniques in session to promote good mental health and I specialise in anxiety and depression. I have a natural ability to engage younger clients and I am a skilled cognitive behavioural therapist.

I would like to see Steve or Sally. What do I do first?

The first step is to contact Steve or Sally. You can leave a message or send a text. We will not call you unless you have left a contact name and asked for a call. All contact is in the strictest confidence. After contact, the next step is to arrange a free consultation. This gives us the opportunity to meet up and you can tell us a little more about yourself. Please allow an hour for your consultation.

How much does it cost?

We offer a free initial consultation with no obligation.

Telephone or Skype sessions are £15 for a 30 min session and £20 for an hourly session.

One-to-one therapy at the practice varies between £25 to a maximum of £40 per hourly session. This may include counselling, psychotherapy or clinical hypnosis. Payment is made after each session.

What are your opening times?

Sessions are available every day at various times, including evenings and weekends.

How long are the sessions?

One-to-one sessions are an hour. Telephone or Skype sessions can be either 30 mins or an hour.

I'm worried about being hypnotised. Is it safe?

Hypnosis is safe, natural and effective. It has been used to help with various difficulties for many hundreds of years.

I have been turned away by the NHS because of my complex needs. Does this mean you can't help me?

Many of our clients find their sessions are beneficial, despite having difficulties. Please ask for details.

I can't afford a session every week. Can I still have therapy?

There is no preferred timescale for your therapy. We work around your individual circumstances and decide what suits you best.

I work irregular shifts and can't commit to a regular appointment. What should I do?

We understand the need for flexibility and use a cancellation list to offer short notice sessions.

Do you see couples and how much does it cost?

Yes, both Steve and Sally are available for couples counselling. The sessions are the same price as individual therapy.

What about children?

We see children from the age of 12.

I have IBS. Is there a toilet nearby?

The toilet is adjacent to the practice room so is always available.

 What our clients say ~

Anxiety and Depression

My life had pretty much ground to a halt. I just couldn't think straight. My head felt like it was going to explode. I was terrified that people at work would notice so I pretended to go away on holiday for a week when truthfully I was at home. I couldn't face anyone. One day it all got too much. I was at work and I ran out of the warehouse and sat in my car because I didn't know what else to do. One of my colleagues gave me Sally's number. Sally was so friendly and thorough. She asked me tons of questions so she knew exactly what I was struggling with. That was over four years ago. I didn't realise how low I'd been until I started to feel better. I still have the odd week where I don't feel right but most of the time I feel great. I only see Sally every three months now. We have a good catch-up and she helps me to keep everything in perspective.

Jonathan, 44

Couples counselling

I knew that Danny had a lot of problems when we first got together. I fell pregnant with our son very quickly and all through the pregnancy Danny was brilliant. Once our baby, Jack, arrived things went downhill. Danny didn't want to spend time with me and he was so angry all the time. Three months later I asked him to move out. He would ring me every day and was always asking to see Jack. I suggested that we go to see a counsellor together but Danny wasn't keen. I persuaded him to go for a consultation and we haven't looked back since. As well as having couples counselling, Danny has seen Steve on his own. Danny says he was scared about not being a good father to Jack. Steve has helped him to see that he's an amazing Dad.

Elise, 37

Relationship difficulties

My parents disapproved of Gareth before they had even met him. They knew I was gay but I think they thought it was a phase. Gareth and I had been seeing each other for over two years before I introduced him to my family. They were as cold and hostile as I thought they would be. I felt like I had to choose between Gareth and my family. I was ready to cut all ties with them and walk away. I'd been seeing Sally for a while for problems at work so she knew all about the situation. Sally helped me to build bridges with my family. She showed me how to be in control and stand my ground without getting undermined. I realise now that it's my parents who were finding it hard to accept my choice in partner. They understand  that Gareth and I want to be partners for life.
